Character Interview with Alasdair (Dark Sorcerer)
Today I am interviewing a very special guest. I have a thing for bad guys so I asked L.P. Dover if I could interview the evil mind causing the problems with the fae. Alasdair is his name, but most people refer to him as the dark sorcerer. I was warned he is sneaky and can appear as anyone he chooses, but he mostly goes around in his shadowy figure. I was also warned to not touch the talisman around his neck because that is the way he steals his power. I’m waiting for him to arrive as we speak.
A cold draft blows the hair in my face and when I move it aside, there in front of me is who I would assume is the dark sorcerer in his shadowy presence.

He changes his appearance and I gasp.  Is this more of what you were expecting?  He laughs.

His laugh sends a chill down my spine, but I shake it off. He’s actually gorgeous and not what I thought he would look like in his solid form. His hair is brown and hangs down to his shoulders, and his eyes are a stormy gray color that I actually find mesmerizing. He’s wearing the infamous talisman around his neck that I was warned about also. Okay, I need to breathe.  Thank you for coming dark sorcerer. I have some questions I would like to ask you.

Thank you for having me. It’s not every day I get a mortal that wants me in their presence. I usually kill them and take their essence for power.  He smiles wickedly at me with a gleam in his eyes. You, however, are safe since L.P. Dover has threatened to kill me if I laid a finger on you.

Well, thank goodness for that. Note to self, Hug L.P! He's cute and all, but I think I'll keep my essence. On with the show.

First off, why do you want to take over the Land of the Fae so badly?

The fae had killed my family years ago and I want revenge. I am the only one that survived and I plan on taking back what my family lost. Once I get the power of the Four chosen I will be unstoppable.

How do you plan on doing that? There are a lot of fae and only one of you.

Grins slyly.  I have my ways, little mortal. Not all of the fae are loyal to their kind. I have managed to sway a few to my side.

Why do you need the Four so bad? What is it about their power that draws you to them?

The power only shines bright when it’s ready for the taking. I have found my first target and she’s magnificent. I will have her….one way or another I will have her in my grasp.

My body trembles as shiver swims down my spine. Focus!  Who is she?

He narrows his eyes at me.   I guess I can tell you since I know you have no way to the Land of the Fae. The woman I speak of is Princess Calista of the Summer Court. Her power is amazing and it will intensify mine when I take it.  He closes his eyes and sighs in dreamy satisfaction, as he imagined it.  It will be a glorious feeling to absorb that much power.

What are you going to do to her?

He opens his eyes and smiles. Lifting up the talisman,  It’s quite simple really. My talisman absorbs energy and once I place it around her neck it will take the power I need. Once she has succumbed to my power I will make her my Dark Queen and rule the Land of the Fae. Her body and power will be mine.

What if she doesn’t want to be your Queen?

His smile disappears and his storm gray eyes bore into mine.  She will have no choice! I’ve watched her for years and when I want something I get it.  His appearance starts to flicker and fade and I can see annoyance drift across his face.

Are you okay? What’s happening to you?

My energy level is running low because I’m using too much by staying solid for you. If you want, you can lend me some power and I can stay solid longer. He taunts.

My nervous laugh escapes me.  Um…no thank you. Do you find that a certain person’s power is better than others?

Licks his lips.  Oh yes, woman have the best power. Their hearts are purer than men’s making their essence stronger. I bet you would be magnificent.

Oh, I’m sure I would, but it looks like our time is up!  I blurted out.

Getting rid of me so soon?  He moves closer.

I know he was told to stay clear of me, but the look in his eyes has me nervous.  I’m sure you have other pressing engagements, and besides, L.P. will be here soon to see how the interview went. Thank you for coming.

He looks disappointed.  Well then, I will bid you farewell.
His hand is like ice when he clasps mine to bring it to his lips. He smirks before kissing my hand and in the next instant he transforms into his dark shadow form and floats away.

Wow, that was intense. Well, everyone I do believe that wraps up my interview with Alasdair, the dark sorcerer. I was starting to think I wouldn’t make it out alive by the way he was looking at me.  Breathes a sigh of relief.  So now we know who he is and what he has planned. I sure hope the Fae know what to do about him. Take care everyone and thank you for joining me. Before I go, if you would like to journey to this land, I found the gateway to get in...

Quote 1
“I’m a big girl Adan. I knew what I was doing.” I looked at him through my eyelashes. “And what were you doing?” he asked. “Playing with fire.” “Me, being the fire?” “You, being my fire.” I looked up at him coyly, waiting for his reaction. I heard the low growl rumble through his chest, and his eyes blazed a stormy blue. “You have no idea, how much I like the sound of that.”

Quote 2
With my hand still pressed against the severely cold ice, I realized that her presence was embedded in every inch of the frozen lake. It had absorbed her presence, possessing it, just like the ice possessed her. She made the habit of captivating the elements around her, causing them to want, to need to become a permanent part of her mind, her body, her soul. I was fascinated by her ability to draw that same need out of me.

Quote 3
“It’s true. Forget Vampires and Werewolves.” He said clearly unimpressed. “Been there, done that, boring. My kind is reinventing the supernatural world.” he said, as he posed, flexing the muscles of his upper body. Once again the light shimmered off the illuminated colors inside the coils around his body, and ricocheted off the ice; basking us in soft blue, green and orange hues. “Face it perro, everyone else is just a dying breed of unoriginality.”
“I’m not a dog,” I said correcting him.

Quote 4
The glare of light was so harsh I had to squint. A silhouette suddenly blocked out the light just as the ice water began to burn my eyes, and I was forced to shut them.
My name was Sara and I was dying before having ever found love.
That much I knew.
These feelings I had for the phantom in my head could not be feelings mirrored from recollected memories. No, nobody could forget something this strong.
I heard my name being called out one last time and then…
Death took me.

Quote 5
“I don’t…I don’t want to have to lie to you too.” I answered honestly. “So please don’t ask me to.” I looked at him, hoping he would hear the pleading in my voice and let it go.
“I won’t.” He said simply, and I breathed a sigh of relief. “Sometimes lying is in the best interest for those we care about.”
I could feel his muscle tense at his words, and the sparks flew deep inside his eyes. “Your eyes, they’re doing it again.”
He laughed. “What are they doing?”
I leaned in closer to him, to study the blue depths of his eyes, and they ignited. I gasped and pulled back. His body followed mine, like it didn’t have any other choice.
“Nothing.” I said, not wanting to ruin the moment with my crazy notions.
“Coward.” He teased.

Quote 6
“He saved your life too? Do you make it a habit of needing your life saved all the time?” - Adan

Quote 7
“Have you been in many situations where you’ve needed to use mouth to mouth?” She asked coyly, staring at a point just shy of my eyes. I knew what she was asking.
“Never. So you could see how I’m dying to try out my skills.”
She pulled back, but only a little bit. “Wait, you think I’m going to let you try out your never before used ‘skills’ on me?”
“Let? Now you’re underestimating the depth of my persuading skills.”
“I could die if you do it wrong.”
“Do I look like the kind of guy who could do it wrong?”
She shook her head. “I set myself up for these questions.”
“You really do. I think you do it on purpose,” I leaned in closer, until I could see every shade that made up her beautiful hazel eyes, “but I like it.”

Quote 8
His words were poetry to my ears, and the destruction to the last of my restraint. Leaning forward, my lips found the dip of his dimple and my tongue slipped out, teasing the mark. I heard his breath catch and the low growl emanating from his chest and smiled, becoming braver. My lips found the strong line of his jaw, and my teeth nipped at the edges until I found his chin. Moving along the curve of his neck, my mouth wreaked havoc on the sensitive skin. Biting and tasting until he couldn’t stand it anymore.
He tangled his fingers into my hair, bringing my mouth back to his, whispering hotly against my lips.
“What are you doing to me?” he growled.
“Consuming you. Like a slow fire burning.”

Quote 9
The silkiness of his voice was a torturous caress I was willing to endure for the rest of my life. - Sara

Quote 10
It didn’t matter that it had only been a few hours since I had seen her last, the second she had filled that doorway the world around me began to spin out of control. The sight of her had nearly brought me to my knees. The longer I was around her, the stronger our connection grew, and I was starting to question if that was a good or bad thing. - Adan

Sara Alejandra Marquez
The Spanish beauty that attracts the attention of everyone with her dark, mesmerizing, shimmery, skin, cascading midnight black hair, and wild hazel eyes.
At 17, her problems should be minimal, but Sara finds nothing insignificant about being buried alive or the Fluttering sensation coursing just beneath her skin, coming to life every time she is around the mysterious boy. Sara can’t fight the attraction she has to Adan or the maddening effects he has on her. With the constant fighting out home with her uncle, Andres, she takes refuge in the arms of the wrong guy.
As Sara searches for answers, she finds the more time she spends with Adan, the more she realizes he might not be as mysterious as she thinks.
“The silkiness of his voice was a torturous caress
that I was willing to endure for the rest of my life.” – Sara

Adan Reyes Delacruz
Is the new guy in town, with his striking dark hair, sun kissed skin, and intensely, electric blue eyes, that spark out of control every time he is around Sara.
Created for Sara and Sara alone, his need to live and die to keep her safe will go much further then just wanting to keep her protected. Having been close enough to touch her, smell her, he can longer blend into the background of her life.
Adan’s battle has been lost, but Sara’s war still remains and Adan must remember his mission and getting close to Sara can destroy everything.
“I tried to stay away from you Sara, I did,
but that nearly killed me and I won't do it again. I can't." - Adan.

Melissa Andrea
I find it hard to sum up my life in a paragraph, but I’ll try.
Reading has always been a passion for me, and writing as instinctive as breathing. Every inhale is an idea; every exhale a creation. Flutter will be my debut release, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! The only thing I do better than writing you ask? Making beautiful girls. My daughter’s will always be my greatest accomplishment.
I was born in Denver, Colorado –but I will always think of sunny Arizona as my home. I don’t have a big family, but I’m close with my sister, brother & my mom. My mom is my hero, my inspiration, and I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing person to be raised by.
4 things you should know about me: I’m very girly, but I can get down and dirty with the best of them. I adore the color pink, I love things that sparkle (including vampires) and I like even numbers (hence 4 things about me, not 5)

How did I come up with Flutter… it’s funny because I practiced answering this over and over in my head while writing Flutter incase I was ever asked this question, incase I actually finished Flutter haha. Now that I’m finally being asked it, I don’t remember the sparkly, polished, wow, answer I use to recite over and over in my head *insert face palm here*
Well the answer is still the same, just no bells and whistles this time! Flutter didn’t come to me in a dream like Twilight did for Stephanie Meyer, nothing cool like that. I actually came up with Flutter on in my car, on the way home from the store. I remember passing my daughter’s school and thinking how I wanted to do something different, something that hasn’t been done before. Like Amanda Hocking did with her Trylle Trilogy. I ran over a bunch of different idea’s, even going as far as Spanish fly, I know gross right! A split second after I thought that and quickly crossed it off the list, I came up with the idea for Flutter –what was that idea you ask?? Well I can’t tell you! It’s the very essence of Flutter and the big SECRET to what Sara is!
SO that’s my big ‘how I came up with Flutter’ story! Nothing fancy, no confetti or fireworks, but I will always remember that car ride home… *insert soft sigh, dreamy look off into space and cheesy smile here*

From start to finish, Flutter has taken a little over a year. The major hiccup I had with Flutter it my pregnancy LOL. I had horrible morning sickness and I did nothing, but lay in bed all day! It took a couple months to get over that and when I finally did, I spent that next few months with my girls. So it was very challenging trying to finish Flutter with a newborn, but I managed!

RHINOCEROS HORNBILL

"A harrowing tale through history's darkest moments, cloaked in murder and
mayhem." ~ Tim Marquitz, author of the Demon Squad

Action, historic events, dark forces and evil come together in an extremely suspenseful book that reads like HG Well’s “The time Machine” meets the movie “The Omen.” Jason Gehlert is a rising star in the horror genre with an action-oriented, sinister and shocking style that makes “Jeremiah” a true page turner.

Well this is a change of pace- today we are joined by the lovely Katy O'Dowd. She is here to tell us a bit about her new The Lady Astronomer! Sounds steamy :D Oh, and be sure to check out the giveaway!

A few facts:

I wrote The Lady Astronomer for my eldest son – he was jealous that I had used my younger son’s name in something else I was writing.

I work with an Astronomer on books that require his expert knowledge – the idea for The Lady Astronomer came to me while reading another book that he recommended I read.

The Lady Astronomer is inspired by the life of Caroline Herschel (1750-1848). She suffered from both Smallpox and Typhus, was a milliner, soprano, her brother William’s Assistant – he discovered Uranus, then known as George’s Star for the King who funded the build of the ‘Great Forty-Foot’ telescope – and most importantly, perhaps, became the first woman in recorded history to discover a comet. Not to mention the first woman in the UK to receive a working wage, from the King if you don’t mind.
 The blurb:
Lucretia's life as an astronomer is quickly turned on its head by her eldest brother when he is commanded by the king to build the grandest telescope in the land. Her nights spent on rooftops gazing at the stars are replaced by adventure as the family move to be nearer the king. In a race to build the Forty-foot telescope on time, misfortunes take their toll. The lady astronomer finds court life to be more dangerous than she could have ever imagined. Can she find the strength inside to overcome the obstacles threatening her destiny? Only the stars will tell.
Author bio:

‘The Lady Astronomer’, a YA Steampunk novel, is out with Untold Press now. She is currently writing a Steampunk adult series because writing for tweens and teens is damnably hard Publisher:

Today we are joined by D.J. Shaw. She agreed to let us put her in the hotseat!  Let's see how well she does, shall we?

1. Tell us, the readers, in a few words~ who is D.J. Shaw?
A happily married mother of five children, one boy (10) and four girls (ages 8, 4, and 2)
2. What made you decide to become a writer?
I have been writing since I was about 12/13 years old. It was my eighth grade Creative Writing/English teacher who suggested that I become an author when I got older. So I honed my skill and decided to give it a try J

3.What is your all-time favorite book and why?
That is a very hard question to answer as I have so many. I have yet met a book that I didn’t want to take home with me to snuggle under the covers with hehe.
4. What is the name of your book/books?
The book that I have recently submitted for looking over is titled “Wiccan Lies”. I am still waiting to hear back on that and as soon as I know something I will share with everyone J However, I do have some short stories that are being featured in some anthologies. “Sinister Seductions” was released on September 30th and features my short “Devilish Delights and Rancid Offerings”. “Fearology” and “Fairly Freaky Fairytales” released this past weekend October 26th – 28th. “Fearology” features two of my short stories “Tori’s Demon” and “The Things in the Mirror” and “Fairly Freaky Fairytales” features my version of Snow White titled “The Queen’s Revenge”. Then we have “Darkest Desires” being released October 30th featuring “First Love is Grim” by myself and “Grim Vengeance” being released October 31st featuring “Playing with Demons” and “Revenge be a Demon”, two very different, yet thoroughly twisted, tales by moi. *evil cackle*

5. Could we get a sneek Peek?
Sure. Hmmm. Which one should I give you? Oh I know, let’s whet your appetite for “Wiccan Lies” shall we? Are you ready? J Here we go:
At the contact, I sat upright in bed and wondered what this dream could mean. As with my other dreams, it had felt so real. Like I was in that cabin, in that era, truly having a conversation with a man that I knew. It seemed as though I didn't know the man, William, well but the man, Stephen, I had been preparing dinner for and waiting so anxiously to see, I knew to be my lover. I reached over to my nightstand, switched on my lamp and snatched up the dreams book. Flipping through the pages, I stopped on the reincarnation page and read with my heart in my throat.
According to the book, the very real dreams I had been having may very well have been a recollection of past life memories. Gasping for air, I threw back my covers, bolted out of my bed and tossed the book onto it. With a shaking hand, I reached over to my phone. Glancing at the clock, I realized that it was far too late to be calling anyone.
I sighed as I sat back down on the bed. So many thoughts were crowding my mind, that I knew I had to get them straight before I could talk to anyone, anyway. I laid back down and decided to meditate, figuring that might help sort out my mind. Closing my eyes, I concentrated on what my mother had told me before I hung up with her.
That was when I realized that I had never asked my mom what I would need for the purification bath. Having something to take my mind off of my inner turmoil, I got out of bed and went to my desk.
Going through the books, I found *The Elements Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells* and started looking for purification rites. Not finding anything on purification, I decided to check out the cleansing rituals.

Finding the *Cleansing and Energy Balancing Bath* I decided to see what I needed and what to do. Locating my notebook and pen, I started to jot down the items I needed:
                                                Salt
                                                Frankincense Oil
                                                Myrrh Oil

                                                Patchouli Oil
                                                Vetiver Oil
Taking my list with me, I headed down to the basement to check out the vials of oils my mother had down there. Reaching my destination, I began to look through the oils. Sure enough, mom had every single one I needed. I took them with me into the kitchen to check my salt inventory. I had salt! I put the oils in the spice cabinet next to the salt, so it would be a simple matter of grabbing and mixing.
That's when I remembered that I never checked the voice mail on my cell. I ran into the living room, pulled my cell off its charger, dialed the number for voice mail retrieval and hit send. After hitting the appropriate number to listen to the voice mail, my blood ran cold as I heard the voice. "Hello, MacKenzie Spayde. I know who and what you are and I think it's time for us to meet. There are so many things to tell you and I want the pleasure of seeing your face when I do. Don't bother trying to find me. I will come to you when I feel the time is right."

I listened to it a few more times, trying to place the voice. But it was someone I didn't know. I saved the message, so I could listen to it again later, and checked my caller ID. It was a blocked number. My mind was racing while I tried to figure out the meaning and the why of the message, when my cell rang.
6. Out of your characters, who was the most fun to write?

I would have to say it was a toss up really. MacKenzie (from Wiccan) was pretty fun to write and I know I will be dancing with her in the near future, but I had a lot of fun writing Kymber (First Love) as well as Phegru (Revenge). They were so much fun to write. Phegru was a challenge on my part. I didn’t know I could get that dark, much less twisted J
7. Who was the most challenging?

Phegru, without a doubt was the most challenging because I had to dig deep inside to that dark and twisted part of me to make sure that I got her written just the right way.

8. When you're not hitting the pages, what can you be found doing? Reading, it helps me think if I get stuck in a certain part of the book/story I am writing, or playing with my kiddos. Sometimes I like to draw (I’m not that good at it lol) or color pictures for my kiddos to hang up in their rooms. J
9. Tell us a little fun fact about you.

I like to sing (my husband tells me I’m good but I don’t believe him lol) and I chair dance a lot when I’m writing J
10. As we venture into Fall, what is your favorite/worst part about this time of year?
Favorite part of the year is Halloween. It’s the one time a year you get to be somebody else without people pointing and laughing or just looking at you weird. Worst part would be Christmas because it has become too commercialized for my taste. Oh and winter. I hate the cold lol
Where can you find D.J. Shaw's flow of words and ideas? Why in these books.
First Love is Grim
What would you do if you found out that you weren’t like everybody else?
That you were special but only in a way that no one could find out about?
What lengths would you go to prove yourself to your family? A family that you didn’t know you had?

Kymber was moving through life, with a part time minimum wage job and few friends. She was different from other people and they treated her that way. She was happy with her life though. Until the day she met Kheelan. That is when her life was turned upside down. She finds out that she isn’t even human and that a family she wasn’t aware she had needed her to complete a mission. As Kymber and Kheelan's adventure progresses, will their focus on business remain professional or will their growing passion take over?
You're in luck, this releases tomorrow!
These can be found in the Fearology Antholgies.
The Things in the Mirror
From the time Rissa was six or seven years old, she knew that there were things trying to gain access into our world. She wasn’t old enough, at that age, to grasp the concept of what these things were or what the difference between their world and ours truly was. She grew up with this knowledge and no one to share it with. Until she got married and she shared her deepest, darkest secret with the love of her life. Tired of being teased over her childhood fear, she decides to confront it head on and that is when things get really interesting.

Tori's Demon
Tori was only ten years old when her life started to fall apart. She began to withdraw from friends and family, spending most of her time alone in her own little world. This didn’t change after she became an adult and began living on her own. She only had one good friend. The problem was, no one else could see him.
Gabriel made her feel special, made her feel wanted. He knew what to say and do to get her to trust him. After gaining that trust, he discovers that he may not be the one in control after all.
After one night of unbridled passion, Tori’s world becomes topsy turvy. Can she survive the aftermath of her decisions?

And in  Fairly Freaky Fairytales, you will find her too with this little ditty.

The Queen's Revenge

Today, we are joined in the stidio by Becky-Elizabeth Searson, author of The Amber Light. Grab your coffee, cozy up in your comfy chair and read as we put her in the hotseat! Let's see how well she does....
       1.       Who is Becky-Elizabeth Searson in a nut shell?
I am 19 years old, turning 20 next month and I live with my wonderful fiancé, Harry who I could not live without. (Seriously, I think he might be a superhero? Or an angel? <3)
What else? I am the world’s biggest chocoholic (it’s true!!) and I have loved writing since I was 4 years old. I grew up surrounded by a menagerie of pets (I had a pony when I was two years old!!) and as a result I am a huge animal lover (Who can resist those furry cuties…the scaly ones too!!) I am bubbly and optimistic and I am always the ‘girl with the plan’ (and I never give up on a plan!!) I am also fiercely loyal and like to think of my friends as extended family
J

2.       What is your day to day like?
In one word? Unpredictable!! I don’t have any sort of schedule and things get pretty hectic sometimes, but I have a pretty ‘go with the flow’ attitude generally.
J

3.       What, if anything, helps to give you your writing mojo?
I absolutely cannot write without music, it helps me to get into the right emotional mindset of the specific characters and scenes that I am writing. I have playlists for each character and for my book in general. If you were to be around when I’m writing, you’d hear a LOT of songs on constant repeat for indeterminate amounts of time! Ha!
J

4.       How did the name “The Amber Light” come to be the title of your book?
Great question! Actually I have a lot to thank my fiancé for here…I spent MONTHS bugging him, batting ideas back and forth with no title real ‘sticking’, and then this one day, he said something that sparked a whole lot of the deeper plot of my book (which at that point I thought I knew pretty well!!) and the title was decided.
J

5.       Just how excited were you the first time you seen the cover?
Oh wow, it was crazy!! My designer – Stephanie – sent me two different samples for my cover and I CRIED when I saw them! It was so overwhelming to be looking at my Ambrosine and for her as a character to be so well represented. I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams how AMAZING it would have turned out. (I’ll tell you all a secret… Even now, when I get a little down, I just go and have a peek at my book cover and it never fails to make me smile!!)
J

6.       Who is your favorite author and why?
My favorite author? Oh wow! Mean question! Hmm… I think I would have to say Becca Fitzpatrick, best selling author of the ‘Hush, Hush’ series. I know she isn’t indie like myself, but she is so talented and inspiring and despite having just too many fans to wrap your mind around, she has all the time in the world for all of them. I really admire that
J

7.       Where is your favorite place to write?
My favorite place to write is all snuggled up in bed, next to Harry, with the buzz of videogames in the background, music in my ears and chocolate by my side!! Heaven, am I right? Ha!
J

8.       When your characters aren’t threatening to take over and they give you a break, what is your favorite thing to do?
My characters are stubborn, they always seem to be there somewhere waiting to spring me when I least expect it! However, when I’m not writing, I am probably cooking (I love it!), at the library catching up on my fan-mail (already!), at the cinema with Harry, slouched in front of the TV watching anything and everything on Netflix, planning my up-coming wedding or playing Playstation3 games! (I’m a HUGE nerd/gamer-girl!). I also love snuggling up on chilly autumn days and just enjoying doing nothing, but who doesn’t right?
J

9.       With Halloween approaching quickly, what is your favorite part of the holiday?
I absolutely love picking a costume, and building it from scratch! And carving Pumpkins into Jack o’ lanterns is just too much fun!! (Although, I must say I’m not a fan of Pumpkin pie!) Oh and who doesn’t love the excuse to eat extortionate amounts of sweets and chocolate?!
J

10.   Who is your favorite character to write? Or Which type of character do you tend to favor when writing?
I love writing Ambrosine, she is such a strong, and unique character and completely the opposite of me in so many ways, which is such a great challenge. I must say though, I am thoroughly surprising myself in how much I am enjoying writing my ‘bad boy’ character – when you meet him, everything seems so ‘cut and dry’ but actually he has a background and there’s heart behind the bravado. I tend to swing towards writing conflicted characters of varying degrees, simply because there’s so much more to get to know. They have the stories that are worth telling, although that’s not to say that I ever force it.
J

11.   Where can we, the readers, keep updated about you and The Amber Light?

I am so excited, today we get to talk to Heven!  She is from the Heven and Hell Series by Cambria Hebert. Now that we are all seated, and waitimg, let's get to it shall we?

1.    Heven, you are… different than most teenage girls your age, what makes you tick?

I never really thought about myself as different. I always felt like a normal teenage girl that loved cheering and her friends. But then I had the accident and I did change. I guess on the outside I am different now… and in some ways on the inside. But what makes me tick? I guess that’s really not different than most people. My friends, my family… Sam. I just want everyone around me to be safe and happy.

2.    What’s the usual in your day to day life?

The usual… my Gran, my horse Jasper and Sam… although I guess most people would think Sam in Unusual… to me he’s just Sam and I love him. School is the usual too… you know that saying… “no matter how much changes, some things stay the same?” I guess that’s pretty much my life. No matter how crazy some things get I still eat, I still love my family and ride my horse… I just have to work harder to find the time to do those things.

3.    You have but a few friends left, who’s your favorite to hang out with?

Well, my most real friends left are Kimber and Cole. It’s hard to choose between them because they both bring some great things to my life. But Kimber and I have been friends the longest and we have had some crazy times together.

4.    So, the readers want to know, what’s the “inside scoop” on Sam?

*Smiles* The inside scoop on Sam… I can’t give away his secrets but I can tell you that he will eat just about anything, he’s not the best at doing his laundry (operating the washing machine is not one of his best skills) and his favorite drink is Bubble Tea. I can also tell you he isn’t quick to open up to people but when he does he loves with all his heart and is fiercely protective over those he does love.

5.    What’s it like going from the most beautiful girl” in school to the Freak Show people say you are now?

Well it’s pretty lousy. I think the worst part is the whispering and the rumors. Since I can’t remember what happened to me I can’t deny any of the rumors because I have no idea if any of them are true. Losing my friends was pretty hard, one minute they were there and the next they weren’t. Plus now I always feel like I am being watched and I have these horrible dreams… it hasn’t been an easy time in my life. But the more time that passes the easier it gets to put things in perspective.

6.    It’s very rough being a 16yr old girl in HS these days, just revert back to previous question, do you have any advice to our readers at home?

Well, I guess I would say to treat other people like you would like to be treated. It would be easy to lash out at people who whisper about me but that would only give them more to talk about. Plus, I think that trying to remind yourself that it doesn’t really matter what other people think – just what you think about yourself. And as I am learning… what’s on the inside is more important than what’s on the outside.

7.    If you could sum up your life in just a few words, what would those words be?

My life is an adventure; scary at times but also wonderful at times.

8.    What’s you biggest day to day fear: Failing an exam, finding out your crush is crushing on someone else or something worse-losing Sam?

I have quite a few of day to day fears…*presses her lips together and fidgets in her chair* but,  I think my biggest would be something happening to Sam.

9.    What’s the one thing that makes you the happiest?

Spending time with my friends and my family. I also really like riding Jasper.

10. What do you, Heven, foresee in your future as far as The Heven and Hell Series continues?

If there is one thing I have learned lately is that anything is possible and what can    happen probably will… I’m just trying to keep everyone I love safe.

 Masquerade Synopsis

Before. Everything was so much better Before. I wasn’t haunted by nightmares, my place at school was secure and my face was flawless. Now, I’m a freak and everything has changed. The worst part is that I can’t remember the night I was sentenced to the shadows. The memory has been stolen from me and I just can’t shake the feeling that someone, something is out there -watching.

Just when I think I have my life handled, Sam, with his intimidating golden stare and shiver inducing voice, makes me realize that I don’t know anything. He makes me see that my scars don’t matter. That they never mattered. I can’t help but fall for him, completely unknowing that he knows exactly how I got this way. Not knowing he was involved.

***

Heven has no idea how closely death stalks her. She has no idea what I have done to keep her alive. I fear the day she learns my secrets, finds out what I really am. But even then I cannot stop, I vow to make things right. Finally her hunter will be hunted, Heaven and Hell, faith and sin will battle, and we will be victorious. But first, Heven must learn to be what she never imagined.  I know her strength is there – I feel it. If we are to overcome all odds, she must push past her flaws - her frailties - to become much more.

Great day for an interview, the sun's shining through the windows displaying all the different shades of Fall. I am here in the interview room on my comfy couch, coffe in hand and smile upon my face as I'm joined by the All attude, fiesty red-head, Sam from the Broken Series that was created by the very lovely Carlyle Labuschagne.

1)  Sam, for our readers who don’t know who you are, yet, could you tell us a little about yourself?  She grins “What you see is what you get, I don’t like to play games, which seems to be the norm around here. I love keeping busy – that’s my design.”

2)  We have heard that you are an “overachieving man-eater” do you have a reply to this comment? Rolling her eyes “ I hate that – man eater!! Whatever. I am competitive I’ll give you that, and right now my biggest competition is the male species. Here in our little city, each division has their purpose. Well mine is to be the best at everything! I won’t let The Council divide us by our breed. So unfair.” Grunts.

3)  Why do they call you Axe? “No one stands a chance against me.”

4)  How would you describe where you’re from? I’m from a little modern city called Vista, on planet Poseidon. We are the first generation of our kind to inhibit this planet. We share our planet with The Ancient Minoan civilization, and somewhere out there are Zulu’s - an exiled off -spring of our kind. We have strict routine, and harsh rules and regulations within our divisions. Failure to stick to our treatments and regulations could lead us to chaos. This thing they call “The Change.”  Raises eyebrow.  “Our sky is purple, we have three moons, and 90% of our planet is made up of water. We have little to no animal life. We have not explored much outside the city walls. We have one beach we visit each end of cycle. We have a shopping district and we explore the Minoan market – much to the Council’s dismay.” Gives a huge grin.

5)  When you’re not tutoring, playing hockey or attending classes, what can you be found doing? Besides visiting the Minoan Market or the local Cafe? That I cannot tell you, if the Council finds out – I’m in deep trouble.” Crosses arms.

6)  Is there a special someone in your life? Sighs “ I’ve been getting close to someone of the Jaguar gang, which is a strange and peculiar thing, as I’ve never experienced whatever this is I am feeling, and I don’t know if I should be grateful to be feeling or not?” Frowns looking at the floor. “But Im excited about it.”

7)  At 16yrs old, what is the one thing you would pass down to the younger generations? Swears. “We do not breed! Breeding to our kind has proven fatal. Second generation of our kind have died out because of The Breeding program. I guess we are the last of our kind. Let’s hope they find a cure. Our kind without the effects of “The Change” lasts 3times the normal lifespan of a human. Plenty time to fix us right?” Raises hands in question.

8)  What is it like having Ava and Sage as roomies? Well in this strange place it allows for time to pass by quicker and things prove more interesting. Ava is a handful, but she has changed me, and I have changed her. We stand out, and that pissed the council off!” Picks at nails smiling. “ If there is such a thing as love – then I guess I love them, because I feel rather dead without them.”

9)  In one word, describe your day to day life with your co-stars of The Broken Destiny. “Ha! Eventful.”

10) Now on the flip-side, using a short phrase describe yourself. “ Without bragging as you humans say – I am the elite of our kind.” Gives a solid stare.

Today's in the Spotlight is with Amber from Amber's Supernatural and YA reviews.  She is an awesome person and her reviews are fantastic!  Here is what she had to say to the pressing
questions on everyone's mind.

1. Obviously, you love, love, love reading, but what prompted you to build a site dedicated to doing reviews?

I had met a couple other reviewers and was very jealous of their interaction with authors and saw the what they were doing to help authors and wanted in on the fun. lol

2. What is your favorite/worst thing about doing reviews?

My favorite thing about doing reviews is the encouraging comments I receive from readers and authors, they make my day.

The worse is if I am doing a review that I have to rate less than 3 stars (I don't post anything less than 3 stars on my blog) I always feel bad giving a "bad" review, especially knowing how hard authors work on these books.

I always post on Amazon, Goodreads, Smashwords and Barnes&Noble at the moment, however I am also looking into a couple other sites, I just recently learned about; Shelfari and LibraryThing, so you might start seeing some of my reviews there too.

4. When writing a review, do you have a process?

I actually do; I love to write my review out on paper before I add it online and I try to write down all the characters names before I start, that way I am not forgetting anyone when I write my review, then I post online and check for errors and such.

5. Of all the books you have read and/or reviewed, which one is your ultimate favorite?

hhmmm...that's a hard one. I am going to have to say The Broken Destiny by Carlyle Labuschagne, I really got into her story and my review and can't wait for her to come out with the sequel.

6. Where is your favorite spot to dive into a good book?

My dream spot would be snuggled down by the fireplace, however since the fireplace is not in working order, I would have to say in my front room where there is NO television, I can just snuggle up in one of my recliners, lay back and read.

7. What is the one thing a book has to have in order to catch your attention?

It can't be slow going into it that's for sure, it's got to be able to keep me captivated from the beginning,  I hate reading a book that doesn't get good till the end of it, I want something that keeps me on my toes every step of the way.

8. If you could be any character out of any book you have ever read, who would it be and why?

Wow!! You are really making me think on these questions lol. I think I would have to be Abby from Ordained By Devon Ashley, this heroine is fierce like no other, she doesn't hold back and tells it like it is, no matter the circumstances, I love that about her.

9. What do you hope people will get from your reviews?

A little bit of an insight of the story from my perspective, obviously not everyone is going to agree with my review but at least my side will be read and hopefully appreciated. My reviews are honest reviews, I don't get paid to do them, I do it as a hobby its something I love to do.

10. How does one request a review?

I have a review request policy on my site, http://ambersupernaturalandya.blogspot.com/p/review-requests.html, I prefer to be contact by email, however, I have had authors contact me via Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, and Bookblogs. So it doesn't really matter which way.

Thank you AmBear so much for interviewing me, it has been an honor to get to know you!!

Same here, Amber.  You have been such a joy to talk to and a working with you & the Street Team has been quite a treat!

Touching Smoke by Aricka Phoenix

Everyone is seated and and the stage is set. The crowd is anxiously waiting and spotlight is on...
Isaiah walks into the room first, hands lost casually in his pockets, but there is wariness in his tense shoulders and in the sharpness of his gaze as he takes a sweep of the room. Behind him, Fallon slips in, less cautious, but not fully relaxed until she sees the lovely woman sitting on the plush sofa.
“Sorry we’re late,” she smiles at me and continued. “Isaiah couldn’t decide what to wear.”
“I would have come naked, but you claimed that would be rude,” Isaiah muttered.
He ignores her sharp jab in the ribs and follows her across the room to claim the sofa adjacent from me.
1)What's the one thing you love about each other most? I watch, anxiously awaiting thier response.
Isaiah shifts, rubs his palms on the thighs of his cargo pants and looks to Fallon to answer. Uh…”
“I think those who have read Touching Smoke will think it’s his blood that I love, but it’s the way he looks at me and I feel home.
I look to Isaiah,  and wait; he’s so not getting out of answering!
He winces, rubs the back of his neck. “I guess I love the way she makes me feel like a full person and not like half a lost soul. I’m complete when she’s with me.”
2)What was your first impression of each other when you met for the first time?
Isaiah scratches his left ear. “She was just a baby. I didn’t think much except she cried too much and smelled funny.”
“Hey!”
He grins, sheepish. “Sorry.”
Scowling, Fallon turns back to me. “I was going to say I thought he was the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen, but I’m not going to.”
Containing the twitch in his lips like a smart man, Isaiah rests a hand lightly on her thigh, leans over, presses his face into the side of her head and whispers something into her ear that had color pooling into her cheeks.
Her hand finds his. She turns her head ever so slightly so their faces are inches apart. I’m holding you to that! Now back off the charm so AmBear can continue.
3) Can your flame for each other get any hotter?
Fallon squeezes Isaiah’s hand still resting on her thigh. “Oh yeah!”
“But we can’t let it, because if we do, the —”
“Isaiah! You can’t tell them that yet! It’s in Touching Fire!
Isaiah winces. “Right. Forgot. Sorry.”
Smiling apologetically, Fallon turns to me. “Sorry about that. At this time, we’ve been advised not to answer that question other than to say, yes. Things can get a lot hotter.”
4) In one word describe your relationship.
Fallon turns her head, catches Isaiah’s gaze. “Everything,” they whisper simultaneously.
5) In two words describe your adventure thus far.
Isaiah expels a rush of air, sweeping his free hand back through his hair. “Insane!”
Fallon chuckles.Intense.”
6) Without giving away any spoilers, what does your next adventure hold?
Fallon nips at her bottom lip, steals a peek at Isaiah before answer softly, “I meet my dad… my real dad. I learn what I am… what I can do… what I can destroy…” she falters, turning pleading eyes towards Isaiah.
He shifts forward in his seat, turning his hand over to touch his palm to hers and lock their fingers together. He drags them both from her lap into his. His blue eyes fix on me, amusement gone, protectiveness dark in their depths. Maybe another question.”
Fallon swallows hard, turning apologetic eyes towards me. “I’m sorry.”
7) You two were spotted at a local Cafe between pages, looking very cozy, where is the one place you feel most at home?
Satisfied when Fallon relaxes, Isaiah sits back. Our cabin.”
Fallon scuffs, rolling her eyes. “I still have nightmares about that place! I’m surprised we weren’t killed in our sleep by roaches or raccoons or something.”
Gently, he eases his hand free from hers and reaches to push a stray strand of hair off her cheek. “I’d rather be there with you then anywhere else in the world.”
Fallon’s face softens. She takes his hand, brings the knuckles to her cheek, holds it there. “Me too.”
8) What can we, the readers , expect on the romance front in your next adventure? More of it? Less of it? More juicy and detailed?
A nervous chuckle escapes Fallon. Crimson fills her cheeks as she ducks her head. Isaiah rolls his tongue over his teeth, scratches the back of his neck.
“Things, uh…” he grins, wide sly. “Things will definitely get more… interesting in Touching Fire.”
Fallon grips his hand with both of hers. “Can we give them a small peek? Please?”
He searches her eyes, adoration bright behind the stare. The hooked knuckle of his free hand traced the curve of her cheek. Her lashes fluttered. She visibly melts into his touch.
“Just a peek!”
***
]We can’t,” I whispered instead, swallowing hard, hugging my middle as though keeping it from spilling out. “You know what will happen if we do.”
“You’ll die without it.”
I looked away. “No—”
His movement was like lightening. We went from the open hallway to the small, empty confinements of my room before I could even blink. The door was closed and locked behind us, and I was pushed up against the cool surface.
“I won’t let you die!” he growled into my ear, singing the sensitive skin. “Screw the rest of the world, let it all go up in flames, I’m not losing you. Now drink or I’ll make you!
He didn’t have to force me. That close, his blood was pounding in my ear. The memory of its taste tinged the back of my throat. Saliva pooled in my mouth. The gum areas above my canines itched.
“Don’t…” I squeaked, begging him, begging myself. “Please…” My hands trembled as I curled them in his black t-shirt. Maybe to push him away, maybe not.

The raw pulse of heat wafting off him cradled me with the same unwavering strength as his body, molding me into the hard wood pressing against my back. His heart beat against mine. His fingers cut bruises into my waist where he gripped me with a hunger only I could understand, feeling it myself every time he was close.
His hand slipped under the weight of my hair, supporting the back of my skull. His fingers tunneled through the heavy strands. He guided my head forward, ignoring my weak resistance.
“I’m yours.”[…]
 Oh, Spicy!
9) What was your first impression of Garrison?
As a switch had been flicked, both of them stiffen. Isaiah shifts his weight, leaning towards Fallon. Fallon in turn rests her free hand on his bicep… restraining him? Comforting him? Maybe both
“Evil,” Fallon whispered.
10) Sources confirm that Touching Fire is in the middle of production, when can our readers expect to see more of you?
Fallon glances at Isaiah. “Do you think we’re allowed to tell?”
Isaiah rubs his jaw. “I don’t know…”
“A little?”
Brilliant blue eyes swerve to her face, studies it. A ghost of a smile darkens his lips. “You’d happily tell them everything if you could, wouldn’t you?”
Fallon winces. “Probably.”
He laughs, the sound rich and husky. “All right, but only a little.”
Beaming, Fallon finally turns to me. “As you know, Touching Eternity will be out in December—”
“Just in time for Christmas,” Isaiah chimes.
“Right! Just in time for Christmas,” Fallon agrees, eyes bright with excitement. “Well, we may or may not be making a cameo appearance!”
“But!” Isaiah quickly jumped in, slanting Fallon an amused sidelong glance, “you will for sure see us in Touching Fire.”
“Where my father—Ashton—”
“Fallon!”
Fallon winces. “Sorry!”
Chuckling, he brushes a kiss to her cheek. “I better get you out of here before you spill everything.”
Fallon’s shoulders slump, her face twists into one of sheepish embarrassment. “You’re right. We should go.”
They turn to me ans smile.
“Thank you for having us!”
Isaiah gets to his feet, pulling Fallon up with him. “It was very nice to meet you and everyone reading this right now.”
“We had such a great time!” Fallon beamed. “Please keep an eye out for Touching Eternity, A Touch Novella, coming out this December!”
“And Touching Fire, released summer of 2013.”
“Bye!”
That was such a joy, I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Check back next week when we take an nontraditional approach to a traditional junction!  Next week, instead of doing and interview with an author or one of their crazy characters, we are going to interview...Amber Garcia of Amber's Supernatural and YA reviews. She's is just sweet as cake and a gem to talk to.
